The Chiangmai FC ( Thai : สโมสร ฟุตบอล จังหวัด เชียงใหม่ ) is a professional football club from Thailand , in the province of Chiang Mai is located. The club plays in the second highest league in the country, the Thai League 2 .

Club history

Chiangmai FC was founded in 1999 and played in the Thailand Provincial League until 2005 . In 2006 the team rose to the third division, Division 2. In 2010 they became champions in Division 2 North and rose to the second division, Division 1 . They finished the adventure Division 1 at the end of the season with a 16th place and you had to relegate to Division 2 North. In 2013 Chiangmai was champion of Division 2 North and rose to Division 1 . In 2018 they finished third in the Thai League 2 behind PTT Rayong FC and Trat FC and rose to the Thai League , the highest league in Thailand.

Chiangmai FC plays its home games at the 700th Anniversary Stadium . The stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Chiang Mai . It has a capacity for 25,000 spectators. The stadium was built for the 1995 Southeast Asia Games . The stadium was also used for the 1998 Asian Games . The stadium is owned by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) .
