The Thailand Division 2 League ( Thai ไทย ลีก ดิวิชั่น ๒ ) is the third highest soccer division in Thailand . It was only introduced in 2006 to be reformed again the following year, for the 2008 season. In the 2008 season, the league is divided into two groups, each with eleven teams. The teams were divided according to geographical criteria: In group B, almost all of the teams come from the city of Bangkok. Group A consists of teams from the other provinces of Thailand. For reasons of cost, trips away over longer distances often have to be covered by intercity bus.
The last game day of the 2008 season took place on September 7, 2008. After the end of the 22-day season, the promoted players to the Thailand Division 1 League are : FC Prachinburi, FC Songkhla, the Army Welfair Department and FC Si Saket.
Promotion / relegation regulation
The two best-placed teams in each group will be promoted to the Thailand Division 1 League . The newly founded Thailand Division 3 League is formed from the teams that occupy places 7 to 11 of the respective group, plus two promoted players from the regional league . The Thailand Division 3 League is to be introduced from 2009.
