The Chiangrai United FC ( Thai : สโมสร ฟุตบอล เชียงราย ยูไนเต็ด), also Singha Chiangrai United or just Chiangrai United , is a Thai football club from the Chiang Rai province . The club plays in the Thai League , the top division of Thailand.

Club history

Chiangrai United was founded in 2009 and started in the third division of the country, the Thai Division 2. There they became champions and rose to the second division, the Thai Division 1. In the 2010 season they finished third in the league, which entitles them to promotion to the top division, the Thai Premier League . After several years in the midfield of the league, the club entered into a sponsorship deal with the JARKEN Group in 2016 with the aim of establishing the Chiangrai brand in the league and in the region. So the club was able to buy some expensive players, including the Thai international Tanaboon Kesarat and the Brazilians Henrique Andrade Silva, Felipe Azevedo and Vander Luiz. They promptly won the Thai FA Cup in 2017 and 2018 and the Thai League Cup in 2018. They also won the Champions Cup in 2018. In 2017 they finished the table with a fourth place. In 2018 they finished fifth.
