Tawan Sripan ( Thai : ตะวัน ศรี ปาน , born December 13, 1971 in Saraburi ) is a former Thai football player and current coach . He has been in charge of Suphanburi FC since November 2018 .

Player career

Tawan began his career at FC Raj-Vithi before moving to FC Bangkok Bank in 1992 . He played there for eight years and won all of his titles with this club. He was three times champion with the club, won the Thai Association Cup and the Queen's Cup . The greatest international success with the team was reaching third place in the Asian Cup Winners Cup 2000. 2001 Tawan entered a three-year contract with the Sembawang Rangers in the Singapore S-League , before he followed his friend Kiatisak Senamuang to Hoàng Anh Gia Lai in 2006 . Tawan has been back in Thailand since 2006 and has since played for BEC-Tero Sasana in the Thai Premier League . He ended his career in 2009.

He played his first international match for Thailand in 1993 against Japan, in the qualifying game for the 1994 World Cup . With the national team he won a total of three gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games in 1995, 1997 and 1999 . The greatest success with the national team was on the one hand the ASEAN football championship 2000 and reaching the semi-finals at the Asian Games in 1998. In a friendly game against Manchester United in Bangkok in 2001 , Tawan was in the squad. With a shot from about 20 meters, he scored the only goal for Thailand in the encounter, which was lost in the end with 1: 2.

After the national team failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup , he resigned from the national team. The last game he played for Thailand was the qualifier against Oman on June 22, 2008. Thailand lost the game 2-1. The only goal for Thailand was scored by Tawan. On March 28, 2009 he got a farewell game from the Thai Football Association . In this game, a Thai selection competed against the national team of New Zealand .

Tawan Sripan successfully graduated from the Rajabhat Institute of Technology in Nonthaburi in his youth .

Coaching career

In June 2009 he took over the coaching position at BEC-Tero Sasana , the club he last played for and ended his career. It was his first position as a club coach. In mid-2010 he left the club for FC Saraburi . During his tenure, he led the club from the third division to the Thai Premier League . In the middle of the 2015 season he took over Police United in the Thai Premier League Division 1 . Although he led his team to first place, he was denied promotion. At the beginning of the 2016 season he became the head coach of first division club Muangthong United and led the club to the championship. A year later he reached the runner-up with his team. After a false start in the 2018 season , he resigned in March 2018. In June 2018 he took over league rival Police Tero FC , but resigned in September 2018. After the end of the season he became the head coach of Suphanburi FC .
