The Tampines Rovers Football Club is a football club from Singapore . He plays in the country's highest league, the Singapore Premier League .
history
The Tampines Rovers were founded in 1945, making them one of the oldest still existing football clubs in the country. In 1954, the club took part in the official game operation for the first time, they entered the third division.
Since the reintroduction of the first division and the associated restriction of the professional teams to 30 in 1975, the club has also been one of the most successful teams in the country. In 1975 the club was in the final of the Cup, but lost to Singapore Armed Forces FC . In 1979 the national championship could be won for the first time, which was defended the following year. 1984 achieved the third championship title. In 1996 the club was a founding member of the S. League , in which it has played continuously ever since.
It took several years until the next title win before the national cup could be won by a 1-0 victory against the team from Jurong in 2002 . Two years later he won the double. Runner-up Home United , who were ten points behind at the end of the season, were beaten 4-1 in the cup final after extra time. The championship title could be defended in the following year, the later cup winner Home United was able to avenge himself in the semifinals for the previous year's defeat in the final and prevail with 0: 2.
In 2006 Tampines Rovers was runner-up behind Singapore Armed Forces. Meanwhile, they achieved their third success in the cup, Chonburi FC were defeated 3-2 after extra time.
In 2011 they won the S. League for the third time in the club's history with one point ahead of Home United. In the following season, the club was able to defend the championship title and moved into the cup final.
