The Tanjong Pagar United Football Club is a Singaporean football club . He plays in the country's highest league, the Singapore Premier League .

history

In 1975 the club was founded as Tiong Bahru Constituency Sports Club and initially participated in Division III of the National Football League. In 1978 one rose as a champion in Division II, in the following year the march through to Division I. By winning the President's Cup in 1982, the first cup victory could be won, a year later you won the National Football League for the first time. All in all, until the introduction of the S. League, the championship was twice (1983, 1987) and the cup five times (1982, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1994).

Due to the previous successes, the Tiong Bahru Constituency Sports Club was allowed to participate as one of eight teams in the newly created S. League. In the course of this, the name was changed in 1995 to Tiong Bahru Football Club . From then on, his home games were played at Queenstown Stadium . Two years later, it was renamed again to the current name Tanjong Pagar United Football Club .

After entering the new professional league, Tanjong Pagar could no longer build on the old successes, in 1997, 1998 and 200 it was only enough for the vice championship in the S. League, winning the Singapore Cup in 1998 is still the last title. After the 2004 season, which they finished bottom of the table, they got out of the S. League due to financial problems.

In 2011, after a seven-year break, he returned to the S. League. The home games were henceforth played in the Clementi Stadium , as the Queenstown Stadium now served as the home of Etoile FC . After his withdrawal from the league before the start of the 2012 season, they returned to Queenstown Stadium.
