Christopher Michael Cortez (born July 24, 1988 in Mission Viejo , California ) is an American football player .

Career

Chris Cortez learned to play football in the youth teams of the California Golden Bears and CD Chivas in the United States . He signed his first professional contract in 2011 with CD Chivas, a club that played in Major League Soccer . In 2012 he moved to Mexico where he briefly played in Reynosa for Topos de Reynosa FC . In 2013 he signed a contract with Orange County SC . The club from Irvine played in the USL Championship , the third division of the United States and Canada . In 63 games he scored 20 goals. The third division team Phoenix Rising signed him in March 2016. At the club from Scottsdale he was 79 times on the field and scored 29 goals. He moved to Thailand in 2019. Here he signed a contract with Chonburi FC . The club from Chonburi played in the country's top division, the Thai League . The Hinserie he was loaned to Ayutthaya to the second division promoted Ayutthaya United FC . In mid-2019 he returned to Chonburi, where he was not used until the end of the season. In 2020, the Danish second division club FC Helsingør from Helsingør signed him. The contract was terminated in July 2020. Since July 2020 he has been without a contract and without a club.
