The Orange County Soccer Club is an American soccer franchise of the United Soccer League based in Irvine , California . The club, founded in 1998, has played in the USL, the third division in the football league system in the USA, since 2011.

The home games are played in the Anteater Stadium, which is located on the grounds of the University of California in Irvine.

history

founding

On November 7, 2010, Orange County SC was announced as the official USL Pro franchise under the name Los Angeles Blues SC. The team is part of the Orange County Blues soccer organization , along with the LA Blues women's soccer team .

On December 14, 2010, Óscar Dautt , Cesar Rivera and Josh Tudela , the first players were announced.

After a very long preparation, the first official game of the Blues took place on April 15, 2011 against Sevilla FC Puerto Rico . Los Angeles won 3-0. The first goal in the club's history was scored by Cesar Rivera. At the end of the regular season, the team reached third place in the National Division. In the play-offs they were eliminated in the divisional semi-finals.

In 2014 the name and logo of the franchise was changed. This happened again for the 2017 season.

Stadion

Titan Stadium is part of California State University . It can seat 10,000 spectators and was opened in 1992. In addition to the blues, the university's soccer team also play their games here.

Coat of arms and colors

The blues jerseys include the colors sky blue, dark blue and white. On the coat of arms, the colors symbolize the light blue sky over California and dark blue waters of the Pacific. The mountain symbolizes the summit of Mount Whitney .
