history
USL Second Division
The Harrisburg City Islanders, founded in 2003, started in the USL Pro Soccer League in 2004. In the very first year they made it into the play-offs, but had to admit defeat to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the Atlantic Division Final . For the 2005 season, the name of the league changed to USL Second Division . The Islanders were able to qualify for the play-offs again this year.
After failing to make it into the play-offs in 2006 after a disappointing regular season, the team made it into the play-offs in 2007 via third place in the regular season and won the final against the Richmond Kickers on penalties. Also in the US Open Cup , the Islanders reached the quarter-finals, their best performance to date.
In the next two years you could again qualify for the play-offs, but could no longer reach the final.
USL Pro
For the 2011 season, the USL Second Division was dissolved and the USL Pro was created. The Islanders reached the USL PRO Championship Final in their first season. However, Orlando City had to admit defeat. In the 2014 season there was another chance of winning the USL Pro, but Sacramento Republic was stronger in the final of the play-offs .
After the 2018 season , the franchise announced that it would not be able to play in the 2019 season. For the 2020 season, Penn FC should enter the third- tier USL League One . In December 2019, however, it became known that the organization no longer had any employees and therefore no longer had any operational business.
