De-provincialization of the province

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The expression "de-provincialization of the province" was coined by the Austrian historian Ernst Hanisch and describes the efforts of Adolf Hitler to push back the predominance of Vienna in favor of the other annexed Austrian provincial capitals .

Hitler's relationship with Vienna had been more than divided since his youth. Above all, the Upper Austrian state capital Linz , his chosen “ godfather city ”, should, according to his vision, be given the role of a “National Socialist model city” as an administrative and cultural center with the accompanying expansion into a traffic, industrial and economic center.
