Ernst Hanisch

Ernst Hanisch (born January 16, 1940 in Thaya ) is an Austrian historian and professor emeritus for modern Austrian history at the University of Salzburg .

Life

Hanisch graduated from the secondary school in Waidhofen an der Thaya in 1958 . After completing basic military service in Vienna , he studied history and German at the University of Vienna from 1959 to 1964 . With his dissertation on " Stefan George , his circle and Nazism" , he was, in April 1964 at Friedrich Engel Jánosi doctorate and already sat down with the topic of Austrofascism apart. His scientific career began as a scholarship holder from 1964 to 1967 at the International Research Center Salzburg . From 1967 he was assistant to Erika Weinzierl at the historical institute of the University of Salzburg . In 1975 he completed his habilitation and in January 1977 he became a lecturer for modern Austrian history at the University of Salzburg , in 1979 he became an extraordinary professor for modern Austrian history alongside Gerhard Botz and thus successor to Weinzierl. Ernst Hanisch has been retired since 2004.
