Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Waidhofen an der Thaya
The Bundesgymnasium und Bundesrealgymnasium Waidhofen an der Thaya is a grammar school and a Realgymnasium and is located in the town of Waidhofen an der Thaya in the Waidhofen an der Thaya district in Lower Austria .
history
In 1867, Waidhofner citizens approached the municipality with a request to establish a grammar school, which they then turned to the Lower Austrian provincial government. With the obligation of the municipality to assume all kinds of costs, the state government approved a four-class Unterrealgymnasium (lower level) and classes could begin in September 1869. In 1872 the country took over the school. In 1903 the future Federal President Wilhelm Miklas was director of the school. In 1908 the school was expanded to include an upper secondary school and a Konvikt, because even then many students from more distant places attended the school. Even schoolchildren from the neighboring Czech Republic were able to attend school via a train connection. In 1921 the school was taken over by the Republic of Austria, whereby, as before, the closure was in the room. Only after the Second World War did the number of pupils steadily increase.
A school partnership with the grammar school in Telč has existed since 1990 .
