Act

In the 1990s, Dungler devoted himself primarily to the animal welfare issues of fur farming, chicken laying batteries and circus animals. In 1994 he started the first stray animal project Stray Animal Care (SAC) in Romania . In 1998, after years of campaigning against fur farming in Austria, Dungler played a key role in the closure of the last domestic fur farm in the Waldviertel. Heli Dungler was also a pioneer in the ban on chicken cages in Austria, the import ban of stuffed geese and ducks, as well as at the conclusion of Kükenschredderns in the Austrian organic industry. In 1998, on the initiative of Dungler, the Arbesbach Bear Forest was opened in the Waldviertel . Another success was the ban on fur farms and wild animals in circuses under the Federal Animal Protection Act 2005 , for which Heli Dungler, among others, paved the way. In addition, through negotiations with decision-makers around the world, he advocated higher animal welfare standards in agriculture, changes to the law on keeping brown bears, and the protection of big cats and stray animals . Dungler also made a name for himself with four paws in his final years in global animal welfare, especially in crisis areas . Heli Dungler was a member of the jury for the Bundestierschutzpreis and a member of the board of Eurogroup for Animals .
