August Kargl

August Kargl (born April 25, 1898 in Langenlois ; † January 6, 1960 in Sanremo ) was an Austrian builder and politician ( CS / ÖVP ). Kargl was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament as well as a regional councilor, and from 1945 to 1960 deputy governor in the Lower Austrian state government .

Life

Kargl attended secondary school in Waidhofen an der Thaya after primary school before he graduated from the state trade school in Vienna. He did military service between 1916 and 1921, most recently as a lieutenant, where he was taken prisoner in Italy and released in 1922. After passing the master builder examination, Kargl was a member of the Langenlois municipal council from 1924 and was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from November 22, 1934 and July 6, 1937. On July 6, 1937, Kargl joined the state government as a regional councilor, a member of which he was a member until the National Socialists came to power. The National Socialists arrested Kargl and deported him to the Dachau concentration camp in 1938 . Thereafter, Kargl was drafted into military service from 1939 to 1941, and in 1944 he was arrested again.

After the Second World War, Kargl was a member of the provisional state committee from July 17, 1945 to December 12, 1945; on December 12, 1945 he was elected to the state parliament and deputy governor. He was active in both functions until January 6, 1960. In addition, Kargl held the position of President of the Lower Austria Chamber of Commerce between 1946 and 1954.
