Atrebanus

Atrebanus , also Attrobatanus (* 8th century ; † 782 in Meldorf in Dithmarschen ) was a missionary monk.

Life

He was probably a pupil of Bishop Willehad from Bremen and tried to pursue the missionary mission of the Saxons in the Dithmarschen area , which was planned by Charlemagne . Together with Emming, Benjamin and Gerival they were companions of the priest Folkard. According to the sources, Atrebanus was slain in Dithmarschen in 782.
