Nis R. Nissen

Nis Rudolf Nissen (born September 23, 1925 in Neuendorf near Elmshorn ; † May 15, 2000 ) was a German historian and museum director.

Life

Nissen studied history , German literature and philosophy , and in 1952 with the thesis "The Lauenburg cities Ratzeburg , Mölln and Lauenburg in the late Middle Ages: origins, development, economic and social structure" doctorate . From 1964 until his retirement in 1990 he was director of the Dithmarscher Landesmuseum in Meldorf . In addition, from 1976 to 1993 he was chairman of the Association for Dithmarsch regional studies .

In 1995 he was "in recognition and appreciation of his service to the museum being and his decades of outstanding achievements in the fields of geography and country - and cultural history " with the honorary professorship awarded the State of Schleswig-Holstein.

Nis R. Nissen was married to the journalist Gerda Nissen (1929–1999).
