Galium fruticosum is a species of the red family(Rubiaceae).
features
Galium fruticosum is a shrub that reaches heights of growth of 35 to 90 centimeters. The plant is rod-like and shrubby and does not form runners. The stems are stiff and ascending. The longest stem sections of the side branches measure 30 to 60 millimeters. The leaves are 20 to 26 millimeters in size, oblong-wedge-shaped and only indistinctly three-veined. The inflorescence is loose, it has a broad egg-shaped outline. The crown is whitish-yellow and has a diameter of 2.5 to 3 millimeters.
The flowering period extends from May to June.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.
Occurrence
Galium fruticosum is endemic to Crete . The species grows in limestone crevices at altitudes from 0 to 1250 (rarely up to 1800) meters.
