Wilhelm Hartel Prize
The Wilhelm Hartel Prize of the Austrian Academy of Sciences has been awarded since 1957 for scientific achievements in the philosophical-historical field, is named after the historian and minister Wilhelm Ritter von Hartel and endowed with 15,000 euros (2009).
The prize was donated by the Federal Minister for Education Heinrich Drimmel by decree of January 9, 1957.
Nominations are reserved for real members of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The award is made by resolution of the philosophical-historical class on the proposal of an award committee. The prize can be awarded annually and, if necessary, split between two prize winners.
