Emmerich Tálos (2015)

Emmerich Tálos (born June 29, 1944 in Sankt Margarethen in Burgenland ) is an Austrian political scientist .

Life

Tálos graduated from the Bundesrealgymnasium and Bundesgymnasium Mattersburg in 1962 . He studied Catholic theology and history in Vienna and Tübingen. After working as a lecturer at Matthias Grünewald Verlag in Mainz, he completed post-graduate studies in political science at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) in Vienna from 1972 to 1974 . From 1974 he worked as an assistant at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Vienna, where he completed his habilitation in 1980 and held a professorship from 1983. Tálos has been retired since October 1st, 2009. Tálos is also a lecturer at Danube University Krems and at ISMOS Professional MBA at WU Vienna.

His research and publications focus on social policy and the welfare state, the political development of Austria in the 20th century, Austrofascism and social partnership . In 2002 he was committed to the welfare state referendum .
