Reinhard C. Heinisch
Reinhard C. Heinisch (born February 23, 1963 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian political scientist and university professor .
Life
Reinhard Heinisch grew up in Villach . After graduating from the Peraugymnasium in Villach in 1981 , he began studying political science at the University of Vienna in 1983.In 1986 he went to the United States on a Fulbright scholarship , where he studied at Virginia Tech in 1987 as a Master of Arts and in 1994 at the Michigan State University as a Ph.D. completed.
He then moved to the University of Pittsburgh , where he was Professor of Political Science and Director of the Department of International Studies. Since September 2009 he has been Professor of Austrian Politics from a Comparative European Perspective and Head of the Political Science Department at the University of Salzburg . Together with Andreas Dür, he followed Herbert Dachs and Klaus Faupel.
In his academic work, Heinisch deals, among other things, with questions of Austrian politics in a European context, comparative populism research and comparative labor market policy. Heinisch is co-founder and academic director of the Summer University Carinthia and was chairman of the Austrian Society for Political Science in 2016/17 .
Reinhard Heinisch is married to the writer Cvetka Lipuš . He was a guest on the ORF several times in the discussion program Im Zentrum .
Heinisch was a member of the Austrian Fulbright Commission , and in 2018 the Federal Government Kurz I appointed the Salzburg private lawyer Michael Rainer to the commission instead of Heinisch.
