Karl Woerister

Karl Wörister (born January 25, 1946 in Sierning , Upper Austria ; died March 6, 2016 in Vienna ) was an Austrian sociologist .

Life

Karl Wörister, initially an elementary and special school teacher, studied sociology in Linz and Vienna. Then worked for the Vienna Chamber of Labor for many years as an expert on social security . Worked in the office of the Minister for Women, Johanna Dohnal .

Participation in various studies and teaching assignments with the main topics: social security in international comparison, old-age security for women, invalidity pensions , sick leave , accidents at work , social law proceedings, atypical employment, etc. a. like peace research .

Wörister performed military service without a weapon as a pacifist in 1967/68 , and after the introduction of civil service in Austria in 1977 was the founder of the working group for civil service, nonviolence and social defense and editor of the magazine civil service .

Karl Wörister lived in Vienna and Neckenmarkt .
