Hans Rupprich

Hans (Johannes) Rupprich (born October 28, 1898 in Altruppersdorf / Lower Austria ; † January 3, 1972 in Vienna ) was an Austrian literary historian with a research focus on Renaissance and humanism . The Viennese university professor of German studies became known as the author of two standard works on German-language literature from 1370 to 1570.

Life

Hedwig Heger, who has reworked Becksche Literaturgeschichte 1370–1520 (1994 edition see below), wrote in September 1972 in Beckschen Literaturgeschichte 1520–1570 (1973 edition see below): “On January 3, 1972, he tore him [Hans Rupprich] a collapse in the middle of the full academic teaching activity at the University of Vienna, in the middle of his beloved scientific work. ”Rupprich was buried at the Neustift cemetery in Vienna.
