Robert Walter (lawyer)
Robert Walter (born January 30, 1931 in Vienna ; † December 25, 2010 there ) was an Austrian lawyer .
Life
After graduating from high school in Wiener Neustadt in 1949 , Walter studied law and political science at the University of Vienna and was awarded a Dr. iur. and in 1955 Dr. rer. pole. PhD. In 1957 Walter was appointed judge and in 1960 he completed his habilitation under Adolf Julius Merkl at the University of Vienna for constitutional law . In 1962 he followed a call from the University of Graz to an associate professor for constitutional law and became a professor there in 1965. In 1966 he followed a call to the University of World Trade in Vienna (later: Vienna University of Economics and Business ) and moved back to the University of Vienna in 1975, where he worked as a full professor of constitutional and administrative law until his retirement in 1999. Together with Heinz Mayer , who completed his habilitation with him, he wrote textbooks on federal constitutional law, administrative procedural law and special administrative law, each of which was subject to several editions.
In 1971, Robert Walter and Kurt Ringhofer initiated the establishment of the Hans Kelsen Institute , a federal foundation that was supposed to continue the work of Hans Kelsen , became his managing director alongside Ringhofer and developed considerable research and publication activities on both pure legal theory and Hans Kelsen self.
