The New York Red Bulls II are a franchise of professional football - League USL Championship in Harrison , New Jersey . The franchise is owned by the Austrian energy drink manufacturer Red Bull and acts as the farm team for the New York Red Bulls from Major League Soccer .
history
On January 21, 2015, received Austrian energy drink manufacturer Red Bull won a franchise of the United Soccer League , which as a farm team of the New York Red Bulls from Major League Soccer to act. On February 9, 2015, the name New York Red Bulls II was published. The franchise began its competitive operation with the start of the 2015 season in March. The first head coach in franchise history was John Wolyniec . In the 2016 season , the franchise became champions for the first time, which was then still third-rate United Soccer League. Since the 2017 season , the league has been classified as second class behind Major League Soccer.
Stadion
After the franchise played its home games at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison , New Jersey in the 2015 and 2016 seasons , a partnership with Montclair State University (MSU) was agreed for the 2017 season . Since then, the team has played their home games at the MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field in Montclair , New Jersey, which has a capacity of 5,000.
