The Football Club New York was an American football team from New York City . The club, which is based in Jamaica, Queens borough , was founded in 2009.

In their first season, the team played in the USL Professional Division , the third highest division in the country. In 2012 the team moved to the National Premier Soccer League . After one season, the team was disbanded.

The home games were played at Belson Stadium, which is located on the campus of St. John's University .

history

Originally, the team was to become part of the USL First Division in 2010 . Since the team and the club were not yet complete, the league entry was postponed. After the USL-1 was no longer available, the team now takes part in the USL Professional Division.

The first league game took place on April 9, 2011, opponents were Orlando City SC , the New Yorkers lost 3-0. The first victory was achieved on May 13th. New York FC scored 1-0 against Charleston Battery .

From the 2012 season, the team will no longer participate in the game, but switched to the fourth-class National Premier Soccer League. There it was dissolved after a season.

Coat of arms and colors

The coat of arms of FC New York represented the flag of the borough of Queens. The blue background with the horizontal white stripe symbolizes the first governor of Queens, the Dutch Willem Kieft , who took over the land from the indigenous people. The first settlers in Queens are represented by the two flowers, where the tulip stands for the Dutch and the Tudor rose for English settlers. The crown symbolizes the name of the New York borough.

Stadion

Belson Stadium is part of the St. John's University campus in Jamaica, New York City . Originally, James M. Shuart Stadium at Hofstra University was to be used. But this did not materialize.
