Sporting Kansas City II , formerly Swope Park Rangers , is a franchise of the USL Championship professional soccer league from Kansas City , Missouri .

history

On August 11, 2015, the MLS franchise Sporting Kansas City and its owner group, Sporting Club, announced that they would start their own franchise in the United Soccer League in the 2016 season. On October 22, 2015, Sporting Club was licensed to operate a USL franchise and founded Swope Park Rangers. At the same time, the team becomes the official MLS partner of Sporting Kansas City. These dissolved their previous partnership with Oklahoma City Energy . The name Swope Park Rangers goes back to the nickname of the 2008 reserve team of the Kansas City Wizards (former name of Sporting Kansas City).

On November 20, 2015, the Canadian coach Marc Dos Santos was signed.

On September 30, it was announced that the 2020 season franchise would be named Sporting Kansas City II.
