The Las Vegas Lights Football Club , commonly known under the name of Las Vegas Lights , is an American football - Franchise of the USL Championship in Las Vegas , Nevada .

history

The franchise, Las Vegas Soccer LLC , was founded on April 3, 2017 by Brett Lashbrook and his family. On August 11, 2017, the United Soccer League announced that the Las Vegas Lights would enter the league from the 2018 season . In September 2017, the team name Las Vegas Lights Football Club , or Las Vegas Lights for short , prevailed in a vote .

The team plays their home games at Cashman Field . José Luis Sánchez Solá was introduced as the first trainer on November 13, 2017 . On March 14, 2018, Sánchez Solá was promoted to technical director, the previous assistant coach Isidro Sánchez to head coach. The most prominent player engagement was that of the former US national player Freddy Adu and that of the former Japanese national player Daigo Kobayashi . In the first competitive game in franchise history on the first match day of the USL, they won 3-2 against FC Fresno ; first competitive goal scorer was Matt Thomas .
