The St. John's University is a private university in New York City in the US state of New York . With 20,346 students, it is the second largest Catholic university in the United States after DePaul University . It was founded in 1870.
In addition to the main campus in Jamaica (borough of Queens ), St. John's has branches in Manhattan , Staten Island and Rome .
