Shalrie Joseph (born May 24, 1978 in St. George’s ) is a former Grenadian football player .

As a teenager he moved to the USA with his family. There he grew up in Brooklyn , New York . In 1999 he graduated from Bryant & Stratton College. He then studied at St. John's University and played there on the university team.

Joseph was in the 2002 Draft of the Major League Soccer of New England Revolution selected. However, he initially looked in vain for a club outside the United States . So he decided to play for the New York Freedoms before finally joining the New England Revolution squad in 2003.

There he made his breakthrough quickly and is considered one of the most talented defensive midfielders in the league. In the 2005 season he became team captain and was voted into the best team at the end of the season . He later became the team's vice-captain.

In the 2012 season Joseph moved to CD Chivas USA and a year later he signed a contract with Seattle Sounders FC . He spent 2014 without commitment at his former club New England Revolution . From 2016 to 2017 he played for Boston FC and then ended his active career.

National team

Since 2002 Joseph has also been playing for Grenada . For the Spice Boyz , he took part in the Caribbean Championship and qualification for the 2006 World Cup.
