The Navy Football Club ( Thaiสโมสร ฟุตบอล ราช นาวี , RTGS Samoson Futbon Ratchanawi ), Navy FC for short , is a Thai football club from Sattahip ( Chon Buri province ) that plays in the Thai League 2 , the second highest division in Thailand. The association belongs to the Thai Navy (Royal Thai Navy) , which is based in Sattahip - approx. 30 km from the tourist center of Pattaya . The team's nickname is "Ta Han Nam" ( ตะ หา น น้ำ )
The club was founded in 1956 as a football club of the Thai naval forces (Samoson Futbon Thahan Ruea) . Since the replacement of the Kor Royal Cup by the Thai Premier League (TPL) in 1996, the marine club has always been regarded as the "elevator team" between the top division and the Thai Premier League Division 1 below . Nevertheless, the team won the Queen's Cup in 2006 as relegated from the TPL . After a direct resurgence in 2007, the class could not be held. In 2008, on the penultimate match day, the club made a direct return to the TPL perfect.
Colloquially, the association has long been called "Rajnavy" (Ratchanawi) , an unofficial name for the royal navy. The club finally adopted this name officially: Since every TPL club had to be a stock corporation for the 2009 season and the new owners moved the headquarters from Sattahip to the provincial capital Rayong , about 40 km away , the club was renamed FC Rajnavy-Rayong . Due to the large number of spectators, the stadium in Rayong was renovated in the second half of the season and tubular steel stands were built. Although the club was stuck in the relegation battle until the end, up to 10,000 and more spectators came to the home games. At the end of the 2009 season, the newcomer finished 12th. With the same score of 30 points as FC Sriracha and Bangkok United FC and the poorer goal difference, the league was able to be held, as in Thailand the direct comparison counts first.
The management of the club changed for the new season. A new club logo was introduced. In the 2010 season there were three players from South Korea . Rajnavy is the first club in the Thai Premier League with three players from the southern part of Korea. While 10th place was occupied in 2010, the team was relegated to Division 1 with 16th place after the 2011 season. The Thai Navy took over ownership of the club again in 2011 and moved the headquarters from Rayong back to Sattahip.
After three years in Division 1, he was promoted back to the Thailand Premier League with a 3rd place . From 2015 onwards, the club fought relegation every season. With the end of the 2018 season, in which a 16th place was occupied, the relegation to the Thai League 2 took place . After many departures, a new young team was formed. The team occupied a 16th place in the table and had to relegate to the Thai League 3 . After Thai Honda FC announced that they would not report a team for the 2020 season, the club remained in the 2nd division.
