Daniele "Danny" Invincibile (born March 31, 1979 in Brisbane ) is an Australian football player .
Club career
Invincibile joined the Brisbane Strikers in 1997 from local club Taringa Rovers in the National Soccer League . After a season with only sporadic appearances, he moved to league rivals Marconi Stallions , for which he made 39 league appearances until his departure in 2000. During a test match for West Ham United in the summer of 2000, he was spotted by Colin Todd , coach of Swindon Town , and finally brought to the English third division side .
Under Todd, Invincibile was used in right midfield, after his departure in October 2000, his successor Andy King put him on as a right full-back, a position that was less suited to the Australian and led to him being on the bench several times in the second half of the season had to. Despite this change, Invincibile was his team's top scorer with nine goals in the 2000/01 season and just managed to stay with the club. Another coach change for the 2001/02 season also brought another change in position for Invincibile. Roy Evans used him as a center forward, this position he retained after Andy King's return in December 2001 and held this position in two seasons with a mixed hit rate of 13 goals in 86 league games.
When his contract with Swindon expired, he turned down several new contract offers from the club and moved to the Scottish first division club FC Kilmarnock in the summer of 2003 , for whom he has been a regular since then. In 2009 he extended his contract there for the third time and joined the club until 2011.
National team
Invincibile was part of the Australian U-20 squad from 1998 to 1999 and took part with the team at the 1999 Junior World Cup in Nigeria, where the team failed in the preliminary round. It was not until August 2009 that he was called up for his first appointment to the senior national team of Australia , before he was available on several occasions. In the subsequent friendly against Ireland he was not used.
