Queensland Academy of Sport

The Queensland Academy of Sport ( QAS for short ) is an institute for the promotion of competitive athletes in the Australian state of Queensland . It was founded in 1991 and is located at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Center in Nathan , a borough of Brisbane .

The academy opened in May 1991 and has over 600 athletes in over 22 sports including track and field , canoeing , cycling , gymnastics , hockey , netball , rowing , sailing , swimming and water polo .

In addition, the QAS maintains numerous partnerships with other team sports, including the Queensland Baseball Academy and the Queensland Academy of Sport Soccer .
