The UK Championship 2005 was a snooker tournament that took place from December 5th to 18th, 2005. For the fifth time in a row it was held at the Barbican Center in York . The Chinese Ding Junhui defeated Steve Davis 10: 6 in the final . It was the first time the UK Championship had been won by a player who was not from the British Isles (Great Britain or Ireland). For Davis it was his tenth and last participation in the finals, which made him the sole owner of the record before Stephen Hendry .

Prize money

After the big cut in 2004, the prize money was kept constant this year and all prizes remained the same. Since this time there was no bonus bonus for a maximum break , the total slipped below half a million compared to the previous year.

qualification

As in the previous year, there were 96 tournament participants and three qualifying rounds. They were held from October 31st to November 5th.

Main tournament

The main tournament began on December 5th with the 48 remaining players. The 16 best players were seeded for round 2, the remaining 32 played against each other in round 1.
