The UK Championship 1993 was a snooker tournament that was played November 12-28, 1993 at the Guild Hall in Preston . Since 1980, the final has been played on 16 winning frames ( best of 31 ). From this year on, 10 frames were enough to win and thus only one more than in the previous main round games. The first winner was Ronnie O'Sullivan . He beat world champion and world number one Stephen Hendry 10: 6 in the final . When he won, he was shortly before his 18th birthday, making him the youngest winner not only of the UK Championship, but of a world ranking tournament.
Prize money
The prize money increased again significantly by almost £ 40,000 compared to the previous year, but was still well below £ 450,000 from 1990. The winner did not benefit from this this time and the other placed received only slightly more. Most of the additional money went to places 65 to 128, which had missed out on the previous year.

Main tournament
From November 12th, 64 players competed for the title of UK Champion. For the first time after the mode change, the final took place entirely on one day, November 28th.
Century breaks
The 64 players in the main tournament achieved 49 century breaks in total. Stephen Hendry set a new record with ten breaks of 100 points or more . In the semifinals, he took four Centurys in a row to a 4-0 lead, a fifth followed in the eighth frame. But his final opponent Ronnie O'Sullivan also stayed above the old record with eight Centurys.
