Darren Morgan (born May 3, 1966 in Newport ) is a professional Welsh snooker player .

Career

His professional career began in 1988 after becoming IBSF Amateur World Champion the year before . In 1990 and 1991 he won the Welsh Professional Championship twice in a row . It had its most successful period in the mid-1990s, when it climbed to 8th place in the world rankings. His participation in the semi-finals at the World Snooker Championship in 1994 also contributed to this. In 1996 he won the Irish Masters . He was also part of the victorious Welsh quartet at the Nations Cup in 1999 , which made it to the finals the following year.

For six years to 1998, Morgan stayed in the top 16, but then stayed in the professional field for seven more years before failing to qualify for another year in 2005. Since then he has continued to play successfully in the amateur field and won both the World Masters and the European Masters (Seniors) in 2007 and 2009.

In 2011 he won the World Seniors Championship , in 2016 and 2019 he was in the final again, but lost to Mark Davis (2016) and Jimmy White in 2019.
