The ROKiT World Seniors Championship 2019 was played from August 15 to 18, 2019 and was the last tournament of the World Seniors Tour 2018/19 . It was first played in the Crucible Theater in Sheffield , England , where the professional world championship has been taking place since 1977 . The winner was Jimmy White from England, who defeated Darren Morgan 5-3 in the final. For White it was the second victory at the Senior World Championship after 2010 . He was also able to win his first title at the Crucible Theater, after losing there six times in the final of the Professional World Cup.

The only Century Break with 113 points and thus the highest break of the tournament was played by the Thai James Wattana in his first round match against the Egyptian Mohamed Abdelkader .

On the last two days of the tournament, two small tournaments were held with the four best players from the women's and disabled tour. Reanne Evans won the Women's Tour Championship and Shabir Ahmed won the Disability Tour Championship .

Prize money

Compared to last year , the winner received more than twice as much, the total prize money increased by £ 43,500 . In addition, the player who scored the highest break of the tournament was given a £ 1,000 watch.

Defending champion Aaron Canavan and ten “legends” of snooker were set for the main tournament . The nine remaining places went to the winners of qualifying tournaments and four players nominated by continental and national associations.

Qualifying tournaments

Igor Figueiredo , who won the sixth tournament, also won the American Championship a few days later . As a result, he qualified for the professional tour and was therefore no longer allowed to participate in the Senior World Championships.

As in the final tournament, all players had to be at least 40 years old.

Tournament course

In the first round, the nominated players competed against the four most recently seeded "legends", Tony Drago , Tony Knowles , Willie Thorne and James Wattana . The remaining twelve players played their first game in the round of 16. The games were played in best-of-5 mode up to the semi-finals , the final was decided over a maximum of nine frames. On the first two days of the tournament the games of the first round and the round of 16 were played, on the third day the quarter-finals and on the last day the semi-finals and the final.

On the penultimate day of the tournament, the Women's Tour Championship was hosted by the World Women's Snooker . Reanne Evans from England won the final against Ng On Yee from Hong Kong. In the final, Evans also played the tournament's highest break with 79 points.

All games were to be decided over a maximum of three frames, but the final was shortened so that only a single frame was played. Instead of a whole decision frame , only the black ball was put on again at this tournament ( re-spotted black ).

The German referee Luise Kraatz directed all three games.

Before the semifinals, the Disability Tour Championship took place, which was organized by the World Disability Billiards & Snooker Association. The game distances were the same as in the women's tournament and the decision frame was also shortened.

All four participating players were from England. In the final, Shabir Ahmed won against Daniel Blunn , who had previously scored the highest break of the competition with 43 points in his semi-final against Mickey Chambers .
