World Women's Snooker is the world association for women 's snooker and was founded / renamed on November 29, 2018 or officially announced by the umbrella organization World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association (WPBSA). It emerged from the former women's association World Ladies Billiards & Snooker (WLBS, since December 5, 2015) and World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association (WLBSA, until 2015), which were founded in 1981 in London. The English Billiards women's department has since been taken over by the World Billiards association .

history

When the first women's snooker world championship was held in 1976 , still under the name “World Ladies Snooker Championship”, there was no separate women's association for billiards and snooker. The winner was Vera Selby , not related to Mark Selby . Two World Cups later, in 1981, she was again in the final, this time against Mandy Fisher and won against them 3-0. Fisher "was devastated" when she heard that there was probably no continuation of the tournament for women in the wake of the "snooker boom of the 1980s". Without further ado, the only 19-year-old Fisher decided to found her own association for women. Until November 2018 the name was "World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association", of which she has been president since then, also under a new name. Two years later she was able to win her first world title herself. She has been taking care of women's billiards for almost 40 years (as of Aug. 2019) . In 2011 she resigned from the chair, but was back in office in 2015. Thanks to their commitment, the Women's World Cup has taken place annually since then. German professional player Diana Schuler has been Marketing Director and Board Member since December 2015 .
