The European Billiards and Snooker Association ( EBSA for short ) is the European umbrella organization for snooker and English billiards in the amateur sector. The association is subordinate to the world association IBSF ( International Billiards & Snooker Federation ), which is responsible for snooker and English billiards. It was founded on May 23, 2013 in Cardiff (Wales) by Simon Smith. This was also the first president. On September 10, 2013 the association moved to Swansea , Wales.
The main tasks of the EBSA are the standardization of rules, the organization of tournaments and the training of referees.
Tournaments
The organization of individual European championships takes place in the following categories:
- EM Men (since 1988; annually since 1993)
- EC Juniors (1997 to 2010 U19; since 2011 U21; since 2016 also U18)
- EM Seniors (since 2000)
- EM women (since 2004)
- EM 6-Red (since 2016)
In addition, there have been team competitions in the following three categories since 2004:
- EBSA European Team Championships (teams of three)
- EBSA European Team Championships Masters (teams of two)
- EBSA European Team Championships Ladies (teams of two)
The qualifying tournaments for the Snooker Main Tour were the EBSA International Play-Off between 2006 and 2010 and the EBSA Qualifying Tour since 2012 .
