The EBSA Qualifying Tour was a series of snooker tournaments launched in 2012, through which European players could qualify for the Snooker Main Tour . The successors are the EBSA Amateur Play Offs introduced for the 2014/15 season . The series was jointly organized by the EBSA ( European Billiards and Snooker Association ) and the WPBSA ( World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association ).
mode
Membership in a national association that is subordinate to the EBSA is a prerequisite for participating in the EBSA Qualifying Tour. Only players with amateur status are allowed; who are not already playing or playing on the main tour without relinquishing their (formal) professional status.
The tournaments of the Qualifying Tour take place at the same venue as four tournaments of the Players Tour Championship (a tournament series for professionals and amateurs that influence the world rankings). Amateur players can take part in both the PTC tournament and the Qualifying Tour tournament with one trip.
The four tournament winners qualify directly for the final playoffs. Eight other players qualify with top placements using a point system. Thus, in the playoff, 12 players play in the knockout format for the three Main Tour places, which guarantee participation for two seasons on the professional tour.
