Career

Oliver Lines is the son of professional snooker Peter Lines . He started playing snooker at the age of 12 and at the age of 16 he accompanied his father to the tournaments of the Players Tour Championship (PTC), in which he took part as an amateur. While he could only boast three wins against other amateurs in the first year, he defeated a professional player for the first time on the PTC series in 2012/13 in the fifth tournament with Joe Perry and moved into round two. However, he did not succeed in qualifying for the professional tour in one of the three Q School tournaments in spring 2013 . Later that year he made it into the last 64 for the second time in his third participation in the Players Tour Championship at the Ruhr Open .

In March 2014 Lines took part in the Junior European Championship , where he became the U-21 European Champion at the age of 18. In doing so, he also secured a two-year membership in the Main Tour from the 2014/15 season . He already qualified for the main round at the first world ranking tournament, the Wuxi Classic . At the Yixing Open of the PTC series, he reached the second round. In qualifying for the International Championship 2014 he defeated the current world number one Mark Selby 6: 4, although he was already 0: 4 behind.

At the end of October 2014 he reached the final of the Haining Open , but lost 4-0 to Stuart Bingham .
