Professional years

In the following tournaments he lost his qualifying games. At the 2016 Paul Hunter Classic he survived the first round, but lost 4-1 to Alan McManus in the second . Again he lost in the two subsequent tournaments in qualification and also in the English Open 2016 he lost in the 1st round against Ian Burns . Further qualifying tournaments followed, with tournaments without qualification in the first round. At the Welsh Open 2017 he was able to celebrate a small success by defeating the much better seeded Alan McManus 2: 4, but then lost in the second round to the round of 16 against Hossein Vafaei . Other successes were missing, so he remained at the World Ranking ended 119, although he was at times to find space on the 97th
At the Riga Masters 2017 he lost in the first round to Oliver Lines , at the China Championship 2017 he lost in the qualification. At the Paul Hunter Classic 2017 he lost his first round match against the amateur Andy Symons, who was eliminated two rounds later. In the following tournaments he lost in qualification, at tournaments of the Home Nations Series in the first round. Keogan was able to defeat Nigel Bond a small success at the Scottish Open 2017 , but then lost to the later semi-finalist John Higgins . Keogan could not win a game after that and finished the season on world number 119, at the beginning of the season he was 89th. The placement was not enough for a qualification for the next season, so Keogan applied for the Q School. In the first tournament he lost in the first round, in the second tournament Keogsn was able to defeat the outgoing professional Alex Borg , but lost in the second round to James Cahill . In the third tournament , Keogan failed to qualify for two more Main Tour seasons.
