Players Tour Championship 2011/12

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2011/12 Players Tour Championship was a series of snooker tournaments that took place for the second time in the 2011/12 snooker season . Compared to the other world ranking tournaments of the Snooker Main Tour there were fewer points to be won for the snooker world ranking list . However, the eight most successful participants who had not already qualified for the following season via the snooker world rankings qualified directly for the 2012/13 snooker season .

It was a Pro-Am tournament series, in which Main Tour professionals and amateurs played.

In the previous year, a distinction was made between EPTC and PTC tournaments, depending on whether they belonged to the six European or the six UK tournaments. The name was dropped, but the distinction was retained to promote tournaments on the continent. Only those who had participated in at least three tournaments of the respective assignment were eligible to participate in the PTC final. Unlike last year, Gloucester was not one of the European locations this time. Nevertheless, this time there were only five tournaments outside of England, as no other venue could be found and the eleventh tournament had to be moved to the Snooker Academy in Sheffield . Because of problems with the venue, the first rounds of the twelfth event were also outsourced there.
