Craig Steadman (born July 14, 1982 in Farnworth , England) is an English snooker player .

Career

Steadman reached the quarter-finals of the 2006 IBSF World Snooker Championship in Amman , Jordan , where he was beaten 6-3 by Manan Chandra . He reached the final of the EBSA European Snooker Championship in 2008, but had to admit defeat to David Grace 6: 7 .

He played on the Snooker Main Tour for the first time in the 2009/10 season after he qualified eighth on the PIOS Tour. At the end of the season he was in 77th place and thus missed the re-qualification for the professional tour.

On May 23, 2009, he won the English Amateur Team Championship with Manchester.

Steadman was able to reach the finals of a main tour tournament for the first time at the German Masters 2012 when he defeated Mike Dunn as a wildcard player . In the first main round he was defeated by Matthew Stevens 1: 5.

With the 2011/12 PTC series prize money list , he managed to return to the main tour from the 2012/13 season . He was able to play there for two years, but then threatened to be world number 78. to lose the professional status again. He tried to return immediately via the Q School , which he succeeded in doing by winning his group in the first tournament . He was again provided with a tour ticket for two years.

Steadman's best placement in the 2014/15 season was the quarterfinals of the Lisbon Open . Even more worth was reaching the round of 32 at the International Championship and especially at the World Championship , where he made it to the Crucible and lost to Ronnie O'Sullivan . In the following year, both tournaments ended in round 2 and there were no other major successes in the evaluation, so that he was 68th in the world rankings again before the Main Tour end. Again he tried the immediate re-qualification through the Q School. Although he failed only in the semifinals and in the second tournament he lost his group final, he was the best player behind the eight directly qualified and got a two-year start for the professional tour through the "Order of Merit".

The 2016/27 season started for Steadman with several defeats in qualifying. His first win was the Paul Hunter Classic , where he defeated Nigel Bond 3: 4 in the first main round . A round later he lost to Peter Lines with the same result . Steadman never got beyond qualification, in the Home Nation tournaments without qualification he reached the second round twice. At the Welsh Open , Steadman was able to move into the round of 16 after victories over Jak Jones , Sam Baird and Anthony Hamilton , where he lost to Barry Hawkins with a white wash . In the shoot-out , Steadman managed to move into the second round after defeating Brandon Sargeant , where he was defeated by Judd Trump . In qualifying for the 2017 World Snooker Championship , Steadman lost to Anthony Hamilton.

The next season started for him with the move into the round of 32 at the Riga Masters , where he was defeated by Kyren Wilson . At the Paul Hunter Classic , too , after victories over Gerard Greene and Yu Delu, he made it into the round of 32, where he lost 4-2 to Zhao Xintong . Several defeats followed in the qualifying rounds, only at the English Open he was able to survive the first round (there was no qualification), but then lost to Ben Woollaston . At the Scottish Open , Steadman defeated Ken Doherty and Alfie Burden before losing to Xu Si in the round of 32 . The same thing was repeated at the Welsh Open with wins over David John and Thepchaiya Un-Nooh and a loss against Noppon Saengkham . In the qualification for the Snooker World Championship Steadman lost in the first round against the eventual round of 16 Jamie Jones . But due to the numerous early defeats Steadman landed at the end of the season on world number 89, which was not enough for a qualification for the next season. Steadman tried his luck via the Q School, but lost in the first tournament in the second round to Andrew Pagett . In the second tournament , Steadman reached the final of his group, where he qualified for the next two seasons with a 4-0 win over Adam Duffy .
