The home nations Series (short: Home Series . Dt homeland Nations series ) is a tournament series in Snooker consisting of four tournaments in the four parts of the United Kingdom in a season as a professional .

history

On April 29, 2015, Barry Hearn , Chairman of World Snooker , announced that a “Home Nations Series” would be added to the calendar for the 2016/17 snooker season. The Home Series includes the tournaments of the four individual countries of the motherland of snooker. In addition to the Northern Ireland Open , Scottish Open and Welsh Open, this also includes the English Open , which was founded in 2016 . In the true sense of the word , the Home Series is not an independent tournament series, but rather the results of the individual tournaments are summarized and the winners receive an extra bonus. Those who win all four tournaments within a season will receive a special bonus of 1 million  . In addition, the Home Series awards two wild cards to amateur players. The four national associations (National Governing Bodies, NGB) select the wildcard players according to criteria that they have previously agreed with the WPBSA.

The trophies of the individual tournaments are named after well-known snooker players of the respective countries, in detail they are:

All tournaments are major ranking tournaments of the Snooker Main Tour and are played with 128 players. After first all professional players have been nominated, then the wildcard players are nominated and finally the qualifiers of the Q-School. Up to and including the last sixteen the game will be played on Best of 7 . Best of 9 in the quarter-finals , Best of 11 in the semi-finals and Best of 17 in the final . The prize money is the same for all four tournaments and amounts to in the 2019/20 season :
