Jack Lisowski (born June 25, 1991 in Cheltenham ) is an English snooker player .
Career
Lisowski, who was traded early on as a promising snooker talent, was in the final of the Junior Pot Black Cup in 2007 . However, after finishing school, he suffered a setback when he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 16. This was followed by eight months of chemotherapy.
Then he fought his way back to the snooker table. In the 2008/09 season he reached the final of a PIOS tournament for the first time and he was in the semi-finals of the U-19 European Championship. As the ranking first on the English Junior Tour, he also received the Paul Hunter Scholarship , a scholarship for young talent that allowed him to train with professional players.
In the following season he won the opening tournament of the PIOS series and with two more semi-finals and victory in the final eighth tournament, he collected more ranking points in one season than any player before him. He also won the English Amateur Championship in 2010 .
As a PIOS tour winner, Lisowski qualified for the Snooker Main Tour . He celebrated his first major success as a professional snooker at the third tournament of the Players Tour Championship in Sheffield in early August 2010, when he defeated Mark Selby and reached the final, in which he was defeated by Tom Ford .
In qualifying for the UK Championship 2012 , he achieved his only maximum break on the Main Tour.
His most successful season was 2012/13 when he first reached the final of a PTC tournament for the second time at the event in Gloucester ; he won against Judd Trump and Mark J. Williams and lost the final just 3: 4 to Stephen Maguire . He then won again against Trump at the start of the China Open and reached the quarter-finals, his best result in a full ranking tournament. He narrowly missed the jump into the top 32. At the end of the season, he qualified for the first time at the World Cup for the main round at the Crucible Theater , but then lost to future finalist Barry Hawkins .
In the following years there were no outstanding results. He was regularly among the 32 best at the tournaments and was thus able to stay in the top 48 of the world rankings.
At the Shanghai Masters 2017 Lisowski made it to the semifinals, in which he was defeated by Judd Trump 3-6. On his way there he defeated Cao Yupeng (5: 4), Mark Allen (5: 4) and Kurt Maflin (5: 3).
In qualifying for the Snooker World Championship 2018 , Lisowski was able to qualify for the Snooker World Championship by winning over Christopher Keogan , David Grace and Alan McManus . He defeated Stuart Bingham 10: 7 in the first round , but then lost clearly 1:13 against John Higgins .
At the Scottish Open 2019 he reached the final of a world ranking tournament again, but lost it 6: 9 against Mark Selby .
