The Riga Masters is a professional snooker tournament with world ranking tournament status . In 2014 and 2015 it was held as the Riga Open as part of the PTC series.
history
The Riga Open 2014 was the first professional snooker tournament in Latvia . In the first two years the tournament was held as part of the Players Tour Championship .
After this series ended at the end of the 2015/16 season , the tournament remained, but was renamed Riga Masters. It was no longer open to amateurs, instead, as in all other world ranking tournaments, professional players, supplemented by players from a shortlist, went into the first round. This qualifying round was played in England and not as before in Riga, the main tournament in Latvia then started with only 64 players. In addition, the format has been slightly changed, instead of playing all games up to the finals in best-of-7 mode , as is usual in PTC tournaments, the semi-finals and finals have been extended to best-of-9.
