The Senator Windows Professional Snooker League 1984 was a one-time professional snooker tournament in the context of the 1983/84 season , which was held as a league from November 11, 1983 to April 14, 1984 in different locations. The winner was John Virgo , who took first place on the final table just ahead of Dennis Taylor . In return, Taylor played the tournament's highest century break with a 139 break.
Prize money
The tournament was sponsored by the Senator Windows company . However, the participating players did not receive any prize money.
Tournament course
The tournament took place with a total of twelve participants as a simple round- robin tournament scattered at different venues. All games went over ten frames, which means that ties were also possible. In the end, a final table was drawn up, the first-placed winner of the tournament.
The tournament was played only once due to significant financial problems and as a result it was reinstated after just one edition. A few years later, the concept of the tournament was revived when the Matchroom League began to be held.
Attendees
The following table lists the participating players, their nationality and their world ranking position. All in all, all players came from the top 16 and thus from the top of the world, even if, in addition to third place in the world rankings, Cliff Thorburn , among others, world number one Steve Davis did not participate.
