The Champion of Champions is a snooker invitation tournament on the Main Tour . It was held in 1978 and 1980 and revived in 2013 . The defending champion is the Australian Neil Robertson .

history

The invitation tournament was started in 1978 by boxing promoter Mike Barrett. In the year mentioned, four players played the winner in just one day at the Wembley Conference Center in London . In 1980 ten players took part; these initially played in two groups in round robin mode , the winners of the two groups then contested the final.

Since 2013, the tournament has been played in knockout mode in the Ricoh Arena in Coventry with 16 participants .

Ronnie O'Sullivan won the tournament three times and is the record winner.
