history

The tournament took place in Fürstenfeldbruck across both editions. However, the first three rounds in 2012 and the first two rounds in 2013 as well as the qualification had to be moved to Sheffield , as the entire tournament could not be held in Fürstenfeldbruck due to structural problems.

The first edition of the tournament took place under the name FFB Snooker Open 2012 in January 2012, i.e. during the 2011/12 season , as the twelfth and final pre-event of the Players Tour Championship 2011/12 in the Fürstenfeld event forum in Fürstenfeldbruck . The tournament was sponsored by the Arcaden company ; a total of £ 50,500 in prize money was awarded. As with other PTC tournaments, amateurs were given the opportunity to participate, so that in addition to 85 professional players there were also 43 amateurs among the participants. In the end, Stephen Maguire and Joe Perry prevailed; the Scot Maguire defeated his English opponent 4-2 in the final and won the prize of £ 10,000. The highest breaks of the tournament were played by Welshman Matthew Stevens and Chinese Ding Junhui , who each achieved a maximum break during the tournament .

The second edition took place as the Munich Open 2013 again at the beginning of January, but in 2013, at the same location as in the previous year. Now the tournament was the sixth event of the European Tour , a PTC partial tour for the European events, but still held as part of the 2012/13 season or the 2012/13 Players Tour Championship . In addition to arcades , the tournament was sponsored by the betting company Betfair . Due to the increased number of participants to 133 players, a preliminary qualification was necessary for the amateurs. With Mark Selby and Graeme Dott reached the final again an Englishman and a Scot; Mark Selby won the £ 12,000 bonus on a 4-3 win. The highest break of the tournament was a 141 break, played by the Englishmen Anthony Hamilton and Jamie Cope and the Thai Thepchaiya Un-Nooh .
