The D88 Sports Macau Masters 2018 was an invitation tournament for two snooker teams that took place on October 24th and 25th, 2018 in the Macau Special Administrative Region of China . Last year, with the CVB International Challenge , a team duel was included in the season calendar of the Snooker Main Tour for the first time . A second professional tournament with a similar format was added this year. In contrast to the CVB national competition, two mixed teams played against each other.

The winner of the team event was Team B, who beat Team A 5-1. In the final Leapfrog Challenge, the winner was Barry Hawkins .

Tournament format

  • The first part of the tournament (team competition) was played by two teams of 4 players each. Two British and two Chinese professional players played on each team. 6 such team games were played.
  • In the second part of the tournament, a total of 7 games were played as individual games. The format was the so-called Leapfrog Challenge, in which the winning player meets the next best (according to the world rankings). These games were played in the special format 6 reds (with 6 instead of 15 red balls).

Teams

The most prominent participant was the reigning world champion Mark Williams , who, like Joe Perry, had already taken part in the CVB Challenge last year. It was also the second team duel for two Chinese players, Zhao and Zhou .
